Room to Grow
A Better World by Design
In collaboration with Andrew Fu and Kyle Engoian
Providence, Rhode Island
Room to Grow is a proposal for Billy Tayler House to foster learning, community building, and innovative programming making use of the existing architecture of the house.
DYI
We believe the best way to learn is by doing it yourself. Through a series of DYI interventions, participants will gain skills in construction and gardening. More importantly, we hope that the experience will stimulate the imagination of local youth and give them the confidence to realize their dreams. The basic building block of our intervention is a simple shipping pallet. What at face values seems to be a mundane fixture can offer endless possibilities.

Connect
Our proposal fosters community-building within the house by creating stronger links between existing and proposed programs. A new garden terrace provides an outdoor space where people can engaged the street. It also gives the Billy Tayler House a compelling visual character. The connections will create an energetic environment and help participants develop a sense of community.
